Stylistic editors comment on material that has been previously edited. This is the most popular service, and includes later manuscript drafts and those that have been translated into English. Stylistic editing is not as intensive as Copy Editing but is more detailed than Proofreading.
Stylistic Editors:
Correct minor mechanical issues like spelling mistakes, grammar errors, inconsistencies in style, etc.
Ensure textual elements are consistent and accurate (e.g., acronyms, symbols, capitalization, American/British/Canadian spelling, running heads, heading numbers and formats, etc.)
Ensure the manuscript adheres to formatting or design guidelines
Remove clichés, euphemisms, and idioms from academic texts
Establish and ensure the tone, style, voice, and level of formality are appropriate and consistent
Adjust sentence and paragraph length and structure to improve clarity and reduce wordiness
